Deputy General Manager – Direct Materials Sourcing

Position overview:
The Deputy General Manager – Direct Materials Sourcing will oversee the sourcing and procurement of raw materials, packaging materials, critical process consumables, and specialized research services, including clinical studies, animal studies, and leachability studies etc. essential for injectable manufacturing and R&D at Biological E. Limited. The role focuses on building a robust supplier network, identifying alternate vendors, ensuring regulatory and quality compliance, and managing the sourcing of critical research services that support innovation and product development.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sourcing of Raw Materials, Packaging Materials, Critical Process Consumables, and Research Services
•Lead the sourcing and procurement efforts for direct materials, including raw materials, packaging, critical process consumables, and specialized research services such as clinical studies, animal studies, and leachability studies.
2. Supplier and Service Provider Relationship Management
•Develop and manage relationships with suppliers of raw materials, packaging, critical process consumables, and research service providers (clinical studies, animal studies, etc.).
•Conduct supplier and service provider performance reviews, audits, and benchmarking to ensure high standards in quality, pricing, and delivery.
3. Regulatory and Quality Compliance
Ensure that all sourced materials and services meet stringent regulatory requirements, including those specific to injectable manufacturing in life sciences (e.g., CGMP, FDA, and other international standards).
4. Cost Optimization and Benchmarking
5. Risk Management and Contingency Planning
Identify supply chain risks associated with raw materials, packaging, consumables, and research services, and implement mitigation strategies.
6. Cross-functional Collaboration and Project Support
Collaborate closely with Production, R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and Finance teams to align sourcing strategies with the company’s operational and innovation goals.
7. Team Leadership and Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of procurement professionals, setting clear objectives for sourcing activities related to direct materials and research services.
Qualifications and Experience:
•Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Life Sciences, or a related field. A master’s degree or professional certification (CPSM, CIPS) is preferred.
•10+ years exp. in direct materials sourcing, with a strong background in sourcing research services such as clinical studies, animal studies, and leachability studies. Proven track record in sourcing raw materials, packaging, critical process consumables, and research services.
